All Blog And No Play…

James Proclaims (4)

According to my wife, my posts are becoming a bit niche…

It’s true that ten days of blogging about blogging can take its toll. I need a rest from all of this. Fortunately it’s Friday and therefore the weekend, so for the next two days I can blog about all the cool stuff I do…

…like…

…er…

Oh dear, I’ve spent so much of the last few weeks blogging that I’ve stopped doing anything interesting with my life.

I probably should rectify that.

I know, I’ll write this last night and then I can have tonight off to do something fun.

But James, what about your unwavering (and somewhat perplexing) commitment to fulfilling each of the ‘Blogging 101’ tasks in a quirky yet mildly contemptuous manner? Surely, given that the task is only revealed via email on the day it needs to be completed, your plans will be in ruins. You’ll have to do today’s assignment today.

Not so, for Blogging 101 has run many times before and it shouldn’t be too difficult to work out today’s task in advance. I suspect it will be this:

Create a Blogroll to share a few links you love. (I was correct)

I’m following quite a lot of other blogs as part of my blogger training. I used to link to all of them but then there were too many, so I’ve reduced it to the list that you see on my blogroll (my beloved just pointed out that blogroll sounds a bit like bog roll. Is that only funny if you’re British?).

They’re all great, you should definitely click on a few of those links. If you’re a blogger and your blog isn’t there, then worry not, I will update the list again soon and if, in the meantime, you write something that I like, then it has every chance of appearing in the ‘Posts I Like’ bit of the blog.

And if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you’ll note that any blogger who has visited these pages and commented or ‘liked’ a post, has earned a link back to their blog there.

I’m doing my bit for the blogosphere.

    Hm. According to Urban Dictionary:

    Niche
    1. A position or activity that particularly suits somebody’s talents and personality or that somebody can make his or her own.

Doesn’t sound like a bad thing to me. I assume she’s saying they’re bordering on shallowness? I don’t know. There’s only so much joy in impersonal-ish writing assignments, neh?

Actually I think shallowness probably is my niche…

    1. I need a rest, too.
    2. Bog roll means nothing to me.

Well if you ever visit the UK just remember that Bog roll is something we base much of our culture on. I’m enjoying my rest, hope you’re enjoying yours!

    Hi James,
I’m Janice. I met you in the Community Pool. You “liked” a comment I made there today. You are a really funny writer. I will be quoting you in my post coming out in about two hours. Here is the link if you’d like to find your quote about the bog roll/blog roll there. (Can you tell I am not British?) http://wp.me/p5jxvv-YO Goes live at 2:00 am California time.
Thank you for liking my comment and supplying me with your quote. Nice meeting you.

Hi Janice, thanks for the lovely comment and thanks for quoting me. Apologies for the brevity of my reply, it’s early morning here and I’m on a packed commuter train!
