The Grass Is Always Greener

landscape-152502_640

If the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence
Perhaps that means it rains more on that side
Which may not be a bad thing
If greener grass is worth a little extra rain
Although it seems unlikely
That it would rain more
On the other side of the fence
Because weather isn’t generally that different
On two sides of the same fence
That generally isn’t how weather works

Nonetheless it’s important not to sit on the fence
Because it won’t be very comfortable
And also fences aren’t always able to take the weight
Of a whole person sitting on them
So it could be a health and safety risk
But if you must sit on a construct
Designed to divide two properties
Sit on a brick wall instead
And admire the grass on both sides
Even if one side is clearly greener

And when the shoe is on the other foot
It’s unlikely to fit properly
Because the left shoe should go on the left foot
And the right shoe on the right
They were designed that way
To wear them any other way
Would be foolish
And walking a mile in someone else’s shoes
Could result in sore feet
Unless both people have the same shoe size
In which case it won’t be a problem
Although they may not have the same taste in shoes
Which may in itself be problematic

And there’s nothing wrong
With having a taste of your own medicine
Because if that medicine was prescribed to you
You should probably take it
Although currently there is some debate
As to whether it is necessary to finish the whole course
Once the symptoms have abated
But it’s better to be safe than sorry
Although there’s nothing wrong with being sorry

Offering an apology (if you mean it)
Should be encouraged
And actually being safe has very little to do with remorse
The two aren’t exclusive
So you can be both safe and sorry
Although if it is choice between safety and contrition
Unlikely though that would be
I would probably opt for safety
So it is better to be safe than sorry

Maybe it’s time to let the cat out of the bag
Because it does seem cruel to keep a cat in a bag
Unless it’s Schrodinger’s Cat
In which case our curiosity may well kill said cat
Though my understanding is that that cat is in a box
Not a bag
So we’ll probably be ok
If we let this cat out of the bag

Laughter is the best medicine
Though laughing has not stopped me
From feeling under the weather
I always feel under the weather
Because I am under the weather
It’s just how things work
And when the weather is nice
I tend to be happy
And less nice weather makes me feel a little sadder

But every cloud has a silver lining
Or so I’m told
Although I find it hard to believe it is anything more
Than a silvery or greyish hue
Rather than actual silver
Lining what is essentially water vapour
Because that would not make any sense
According to my understanding of the properties
Of both silver and water vapour

A silver or grey cloud
Is a portent for rain
Which is bad news for some
But may be good news for others
Because when it rains
The grass is always greener

I love this! Particularly the way it comes full circle. You know what they say anyway, the grass is greenest where you water it!

I’ve never been great at watering my metaphorical grass. Or the grass in my actual garden for that matter…

If your grass is greener I’m going to another supplier
because it reminds me of home.
My mate Tom always used to say that.
    Please don’t take offence though
because the cows would get out!

By the by, I love this post!
