Hello, I’m James and this is my blog, ‘James Proclaims’.
Recently I started writing posts with ‘click-bait’ titles. It was sort of an experiment to see if it got more people to visit my blog, but also a bit of fun that I thought that people who already visited my blog would find amusing.
Insofar as attracting new visitors went, it did work a bit, but some other posts, the ones with actual content, seemed to be doing just as well. So as a strategy for attracting new visitors I wouldn’t necessarily recommend writing ‘click bait’ titles as your main marketing strategy.
But the titles appear to have amused some of my regular readers and I like to amuse my regular readers. They are lovely people who deserve to be happy and if I can contribute to that in some small way, then I’m more than willing to write disingenuous blog post titles.
If you did come here to see pictures of ‘Epic Fails’ then I apologise that you haven’t found that here.
Although maybe you consider this blog to be an ‘Epic Fail’. You’re entitled to your opinion.
I don’t really know what an ‘Epic Fail’ is. Whenever anyone shows me pictures or videos of so-called ‘Epic Fails’ they just seem to be unfortunate incidents that happened to other people. There’s rarely anything ‘epic’ about them, and mostly I’d say they were not wholly indicative of success or failure either.
But that’s just my opinion. Which I am also entitled to.
I agree. A lot of “epic fails” make me feel sorry for the person involved. Occasionally a braggart gets his comeuppance and when that happens it is humorous.

Even then I feel a certain amount of ‘liberal guilt’. But mostly it’s the lack of ‘epicness’ I object to.

I don’t notice the title until I open the post, and by then I guess WP already added a “+1” to your stats. Makes you realise that all that time spent trying to come up with a witty, informative title (as you did!) is probably wasted.

To be honest I’d assume most of my regular readers would actively be put off by my stupid click-bait titles if they paid any attention to them.

yeah, certainly I am expecting something tongue-in-cheek.

Conned again?! Click bait…?! Words epically fail me.

You faux outrage makes me feel like I should offer some sort of insincere consolation.

I clicked on it to see the epic failure and only got the F of Failure. Where’s the other 3 letters? I was disappointed. I’d enjoy seeing you flop into failure.

I feel that comment demeans both of us a little.

I am normally disappointed by epic fails. I eagerly get my popcorn ready for an exciting 3 hour extravaganza with a cast of thousands and don’t even get to eat one pop, let alone a corn, before the man in a 4 second long video second clip falls over in a puddle.
And you don’t even have that. Pfftt..
Ah, popcorn’s ready.

You like the subtle but completely intentional second second there?

I’m big fan of seconds. Especially when it comes to popcorn.

I consider my entire blog site an epic fail. Maybe I should change the title….

I’d follow a blog called ‘Epic Fail’ just out of curiosity

I really must object in the strongest possible manner. I do not wish to be gratuitously amused either by real, or faux, epic fails. Let’s have some real facts, not this fake news. Let’s have some rip roaring tales about true life heroes. There are plenty to choose from amongst our brave and revered politicians and billionaires, not to mention all of the beautiful people who appear so infrequently on reality TV. Come on James, you know you can do it!

I’m not sure I could ever do those heroic souls justice…
