The James Proclaims NaNoWriMo/NaBloPoMo Adventure – Day 30

James Proclaims (4)

It’s the early hours of the morning as I write this, but having been unceremoniously woken up by Little Proclaims, and realising that I didn’t have quite enough time to go back to sleep before my normal, quite early ‘getting up time’ was due to arrive, I thought I might see if I couldn’t ease myself over the NaNoWriMo finish line on the final day.

And I have managed to hit my modest goal of 25000 words, indeed I’m on 25041 at the moment thanks to the 241 words I’ve just produced.

I didn’t fully achieve NaNoWriMo ‘winner’ status, because I would have needed to have written double what I actually managed, but nonetheless I’m fairly happy with my efforts overall. I will continue to work on the novel, now that NaNoWriMo is over, but it may be at a less frenetic pace and certainly I won’t be updating the word count on this blog, as has been the case for the past 30 days.

Those daily updates have arguably been some of the least interesting posts I’ve written on this blog (although the bar was already quite low in that regard so they probably still rank above the very worst of my past efforts) but by writing them I have ensured that the NaNoBloMo bit of my November 2021 challenge was achieved. Which is quite possibly something to celebrate, albeit it’s only a consolation prize.

But irrespective of whether I’ve really achieved anything this month, it is now all but over and I have survived another November, which was really the point of all this. Tomorrow it’s December, which means the blogging will go on, because it’s the start of my, now tradtional, James Proclaims Advent Calendar Of Chistmas(ish) Films, which is another little self-indulgent blog project I’ve been working on every December since 2017. If you want to know a bit more about that particular folly then click on this link.

I’ve already pre-written most of the posts for this year’s Advent Calendar, so I will be able to switch the comments back on my posts, which may be good news for those of you who like to comment on badly written film reviews.

Indeed I’ll be doing so little new writing between now and Christmas Day that I’ve gone so far as to turn the comments back on today. Mainly so you can congratulate me on my heroic novel-writing/blogging adventure of the past month.

Out for the count, word-wise I’m sure.

You’re welcome. Actually, I did try to drum up some support for you by posting about your efforts on my blog (http://skippedgear.com/2021/11/08/no-post/), but as I normally only have three readers, (you, me, and obbverse who already comes here) then you might not have noticed any swelling in your statistics. Or anywhere else.

Good James has turned his comments back on so we can write snarky comments on his posts. Oh yeah, congrats.

Snark is the most sincere way to express respect and admiration in my rose-tinted experience.

A splendid achievement. Have you lined up a publisher yet? Book tour?

I have yet to receive interest from a publisher but I’m certain it’s only a matter of time. And I’m just finalising the logistics of the book tour, but I expect it will include a range of venues, including my house, my parent’s house and several pubs (Covid-permitting of course).

Parents’ house is always a good move. I found it my best guarantee of a sale.

Honestly, your posts always make me laugh. You have this way of making even the most profoundly mundane posts humourous, and because they make me laugh, they don’t feel boring.

Making the ‘profoundly mundane’ vaguely amusing is my only goal with this blog, so thank you.
