There are results in life
That I care about
The results of an academic endeavour perhaps
Or the outcome of a job interview
And medical results
On the occasions that
A test is required
Usually matter
Be they mine
Or those of someone I care about
To a lesser extent
Even the results of sporting fixtures
Matter a little
Some more than others perhaps
But they can impact on my mood
In contrast however,
And in spite of the bold type-face employed
In the congratulatory email sent to advise me
That I had saved a princely £1.30
I find myself largely indifferent
(And maybe it’s just me)
