Hello dear readers. After announcing that I would be having a break from blogging just over a week ago, I’m now announcing my return. This does presuppose that anyone cares, which is, perhaps, too great an assumption all things considered.

On the other hand, if I didn’t announce my return then how would anyone know I’d even been away and thus how would they know to celebrate my return? It’s a genuine conundrum.

Anyway, whether this news is of consequence or not, I have returned to my blog.

There is a part of me that would delight in the irony of writing a post announcing my return, only for me then to disappear for another week. But sadly that is not my intention on this occasion.

I do, however, fully intend to post less often than the daily blogging schedule I had been maintaining for the 365 consecutive days I achieved prior to my recent hiatus. And I’m going to reinforce that message by posting every day for the entirety of April.

Because, I have decided, for no good reason, to do what I did last April, and participate in the annual A-Z blogging challenge.

Last year I wrote mainly about 90s music. When I started that challenge I was under the impression that most of the music I like is from the 90s. I’ve always assumed that the noughties was a barren wasteland for me in terms of music, but in the wake of last year’s opus, I did notionally try to put together an A-Z of albums that I like from that decade. And I found it surprisingly easy. It turns out that I like a lot of music from the noughties. I have had to cheat a bit on ‘Q’, ‘X’ and ‘Z’ but frankly everyone cheats on those letters. Otherwise I think I’ve managed to put together a fairly satisfying alphabetical compendium of CDs from that era.

Anyway, that’s what I’ll be doing from tomorrow. Feel free to join me on my second annual melodious odyssey.

Or not.

It’s far from compulsory.

  3. Welcome back.
As I wasn’t expecting a blog, I hadn’t scheduled any time to read, digest and comment in any sort of pithy way. Which is a pithy.

  4. Ok, I just discovered you and you disappeared. Now you’re back and going to resume an almost daily posting schedule that you recently gave up on. Not saying you’re fickle, maybe more like you’re complicated. And I can respect that. Good luck with the A to Z Challenge.

  5. Okay, so I was off by a day. I thought your return would be on April Fools Day because I didn’t think you could resist. I’m now thinking you returned a day before I thought you would, just to spite me!!! 😊 (It’s nice to have you back.)

    1. Au contraire, I was always planning on doing this A-Z thing and your April Fools suggestion made me briefly reconsider. But the A-Z posts pretty much write themselves so in the interests of not having to try too hard I’ve gone with plan A.
