2016’s The Secret Life of Pets is a largely derivative computer-animated movie that might struggle to stand out from the slew of computer-animated movies that are the mainstay of children’s cinema. Thanks to a strong voice cast and some genuinely laugh out loud moments, it does just about manage to differentiate itself from the pack.

Kevin Hart’s psychotic white bunny ‘Snowball’ is probably one of the more original antagonists to hit the silver screen too.

Score for Christmasishness

Nothing at all Christmassy about this one, except for a very brief festive scene in a montage of memories of one of the main characters. It’s blink and you’ll miss it stuff, but I didn’t blink and therefore didn’t miss it. There have been, and will be, more tenuous reasons than this for a film making the cut for my annual festive countdown so my ocular alertness is justification enough for including this.
