James Reviews – A Jedi Themed Dressing Gown

This dressing gown is a must have. When you’ve had a tough day fighting Sith lords and Stormtroopers, there’s nothing better than kicking back and relaxing in one of these luxurious robes. Equally if the force isn’t quite as strong with you, or you’re now in your mid-thirties and therefore ‘too old to begin the training’, then there’s nothing to stop you from buying one of these and just pretending that you’re a Jedi.

jedi gown

Like I do.

All of the time.

It helps if you have a plastic light-sabre, to complete the effect, but if you’re not as committed as me then worry not, it isn’t a prerequisite of owning what is still a very nice dressing gown.

I probably should mention that you can get something similar to this in black, but if you do that it will be a Sith Dressing gown and you will essentially be admitting that you’re evil.

It isn’t cool to be evil.

Yes, when I watch the original trilogy, my favourite character is Darth Vader, but that’s a least partly because he was one of the cooler toys when I was a kid. I don’t want to be Darth Vader. He wasn’t happy, he killed lots of people and he had some very worrying respiratory problems. I don’t want to be like that.

I’d rather be a Jedi, like Obi Wan Kenobi and live in a cave and then become some sort of cool ghost-like entity…

Actually, on reflection, that sounds pretty grim too…

No I want to be like Luke Skywalker and have a dysfunctional relationship with my father, which results in me losing my hand in a duel, before I get to exact my revenge and almost kill him but then show him mercy but then nearly get killed by his boss and only be saved when my father sacrifices his own life to save mine…

Nope that still sound pretty bad…

I’ll just be like Chewbacca instead. He always seems happy and he’s got a loving family if the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special is anything to go by.

Anyway, the dressing gown is great, but it is just a dressing gown. If the force wasn’t strong with you before, it won’t be when you put this on.

And don’t wear it out of the house. People will not respect you for it.

Take it from me.

Dare I admit, I have never seen the Star Wars trilogy? On the other hand, I LOVE Spaceballs! Which is quite odd since I probably don’t truly “get” some of the parody. I enjoy Yogurt, as one of my favorite characters nonetheless.

I think Spaceballs stands on it’s own, although I haven’t seen it for ages. And I don’t judge anyone for not watching Star Wars – I genuinely don’t know if I’d love it as much if I hadn’t watched it so much as a kid. I’d still like it a lot because I am a bit of a geek but the love is at least partially fuelled by nostalgia…

Interesting way to put it… love fueled by nostalgia. I like that!
