Free As A Bird

Another Monday and another ‘Artists Corner’.

Except that I’m supposed to do these on a Friday according to my 2017 blogging schedule.

Monday is ‘long post day’.

But, after another week of stress in the world of work, I continue to be a little out of synch with the blogosphere.

In the greater scheme of things it doesn’t really matter. There are bigger things in this world to worry about.

Like the fact that tomorrow is my birthday and I have to go to work. I hate working on my birthday.

Anyway, I’ll probably post something tomorrow about that. And I’ll expect my comments section to be full of birthday wishes.

Back to today though and I’m belatedly posting my weekly contribution to Haylee’s Moodle Army.

This week she gave us free rein to do what we want.

So I was going to do something depicting a lion who had escaped from his cage (so ‘free’, but also ‘reign’ because the lion is the king of all the animals.), but upon his escape he was going to have set up a business selling spring water and he’d be selling the bottles as a ‘3 for 2’ offer (so ‘sort-of-free’ rain).

In the end that seemed like quite an ambitious proposal for someone with my artistic skills so I drew this pigeon instead.

That’s a beautiful pigeon, and happy early birthday. I hope someone at work brings in a cake!

… Or at least a cupcake.

My birthday is the middle of July, So we were always off school and I always made sure to book summer holidays from work when it was my birthday the first birthday I actually had to work was my 30th…how rubbish is that 29 years having a day off on my birthday!! I don’t mind working it now.. I like to forget it’s my birthday, haha!
Happy Birthday for tomorrow hope it’s a good day (at work) and involves lots of cake!

I only went into teaching so my birthday would always be in the Easter holidays. I’m feeling more than a little cheated this year. But it has happened before. I don’t know if I’d have ever recovered after your experience. Sounds like you haven’t either – birthdays are to be cherished regardless of age. It’s the one day of the year that you’re more important than everyone else!

Your pigeon looks a little anxious… maybe he knows the whereabouts of the escaped lion 😉 I like him though.
Wishing you a happy birthday for tomorrow – working on your birthday sucks – I had to deal with two internal exclusions on mine! Actually ended up eating lunch in the car to escape.
Maybe you should have drawn me a tiny violin…

That sounds incredibly difficult! I’ve arranged a lunchtime meeting with some people I don’t dislike. I think it’s the closest I’m going to get to a birthday party. It is genuinely a proper meeting though and it’s much better than meeting with the people really dislike…

That’s quite a good tactic! Although, what’s with having to bring your own cake in? I’ve never understood that. Only a select few knew it was my birthday and they weren’t the ones causing issues. But when you have an angry tweenager doing their best Kelis song impression, I did feel like throwing my own tantrum!
