Apparently today is ‘World Television Day’.
I don’t know why we need a day for that.
Don’t get me wrong, I like watching TV as much as anyone, but is it really worthy of its own day?
Evidently so, for today is that day.
It’s not even one of those frivolous ‘made-up-for-the-sake-of-it’ days like ‘World Sandwich Day’.
This has the backing of the United Nations. This is their baby. So, it must be about more than ‘Downton Abbey’.
I did briefly look at the UN website to see if I could work out why today is ‘World Television Day’.
But, about two lines into the explanation, I got bored.
So, I turned on the telly instead.
I really enjoy these little articles/stories James. Keep it up

I’m sure it’ll do something any minute now. Give it another twenty to be safe.

I’m afraid you don’t win our jackpot but you can take away the coveted ‘James Proclaims’ trophy…

I turned on the TV and felt like I’d been thrown back in time; they were playing back-to-back ads from the 70s or 80s. I had no idea what was going on until about 15 minutes in when they played a “CELEBRATING THE MAGIC OF TELEVISION ON WORLD TELEVISION DAY” title card.
Surely there must be something better than ads that would do that? No?
