A Daddy Daughter Poem

The following is something that Little Proclaims and I came up with a few weeks ago. It’s more of a performance piece really. I’m not sure it translates to the page too well. But I’ve transcribed it anyway, because content is content. You’ll have to imagine the performance but if it helps, imagine the lines ending in a question mark are being spoken by a slightly overweight, exhausted, 41-year-old man and the lines ending in an exclamation mark are being shouted enthusiastically by an adorable, but somewhat energetic, two-year-old girl.

Funny!
Bunny?
Bunny!
Funny?
Funny!
Honey?
Honey!
Money?
Money!
Bunny?
Bunny!
Runny?
Runny!
Sunny?
Sunny!
Bunny?
Bunny!
Funny?
Bunny! Bunny!
Honey?
Bunny!
Money?
Bunny!
Runny?
Bunny!
Sunny?
Bunny!
Bunny! Bunny!
Bunny! Bunny! Bunny!
Daddy, I like some sweets!
Daddy, I like some sweets!

Haha, I’ve not been online blogging-wise for several weeks, so this was rather a delight to read!
May I suggest a car game, based around some of the lines?
Bunny, Bunny, Bounce, Bounce! is shouted enthusiastically whenever they are spotted and if it’s a particularly small rabbit, then it’s Mini, Bunny, Bunny, Bounce, Bounce!
It’s a favourite in our house when travelling. We have no children. I’ll just leave that there…

Accomplished artist and poet, moving into performance art! Are there no limits to this child genius?

She appears to believe not. I question her belief that she can defy gravity…

Exquisite! What a superb exclamationer. Pity about the questioner?

If you keep this up, you’re going to get “Father of the Year”! (She’s a lucky little girl. I know you’re lucky too.) Meanwhile, sniff, my baby can’t come home for Christmas because of the pandemic!!

Does “Father of the Year” come with a cash prize? Because this parenting business is quite expensive…
But I am glad I get to spend Christmas with my little one, although her grandparents will be visiting ‘virtually’ this year which isn’t the same at all.
