November is but four days old and I continue to persist with my attempts to write an entire novel this month in honour of NaNoWriMo.
I seem to be maintaining my rate of roughly 500 words per day, which is, just about, enough to keep the dream alive, although I’m definitely going to have to significantly up my game if I want to hit the 50,000 word target.
I think weekends might be the key. I’m sure I can write more words on non-work days, although Little Proclaims may disagree. She only really sees me for a few hours in the evening on week days, but Saturdays and Sundays are all about daddy/daughter time. Mostly we go out, which is not at all conducive to writing, but even when we stay in, the sight of me typing away on my laptop is generally viewed by Little Proclaims as an invitation for her to type on my laptop. And she tends to write in a different genre to me, what with not currently being able to read or write. I imagine her efforts would still be an improvement on the rubbish I’ve been churning out though.
Today’s badly written words totalled 558. This means I’m now up to 5177, which is over 10% of the target.
It’s just a shame I still have around 90% left to write.
