Day 15 of NaNoWriMo and this is officially the halfway point. At least it is in terms of days. I’m not even close to the 25,000 words that would allow me to say that I am halfway towards the 50,000 words which will permit me to declare that I’ve written an entire novel in a month and thus become a NaNoWriMo Winner.
Indeed I fear that I will not be a NaNoWriMo Winner this year. Nonetheless, I’ve taken part and persisted in the face of overwhelming odds (if my three-year-old daughter can be described as ‘overwhelming odds, which I feel she can be), so I’m not sure it would be fair to call me a NaNoWriMo Loser. Perhaps if I give up now, that moniker would be fair, but I think I will persist. The dream of achieving half a novel this month is still alive and that is better than nothing. Certainly better than what I had at the start of the month.
I’m pretty sure if I get to 25,000 words then I will go on and finish the thing eventually. And if I don’t have to blog about my daily wordcount then I might even get to the end of the first draft fairly quickly once November is over.
However, updating my NaNoWriMo wordcount on my blog every day this month was a commitment I made at the start of this madness and so, without further ado, here is today’s summary:
Today I wrote 833 words, which leaves me on a grand total of 12,012 words to date.
