Happy Black Friday everyone!
Or should I say ‘Happy Last Day Of Black Friday’? One of the many retailers who have been emailing me all week has indeed dubbed today ‘The Last Day of Black Friday’, suggesting that Black Friday, in spite of the name, is a multi-day event.
I have waxed lyrical on this subject before, quite possibly every Black Friday since I began blogging, but it’s still a thing that perplexes me. It makes no sense as a day in a country that doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but it makes even less sense as an entire week.
Of course it’s not entirely over – some of the ‘unmissable deals’ will no doubt survive the weekend and then we have the charm of ‘Cyber Monday’ to look forward to.
However, as much as I don’t really buy into the thrills of Black Friday, I am very much a fan of Friday in general, signalling as it does, the beginning of the weekend.
This will be the last weekend of my NaNoWriMo/NaBloPoMo adventure. And I seem to be going out on a high. Today has been another successful word count extravaganza and I managed to produce 1086 new words. Which leaves me on a grand total of 20155 words
And some of those words actually do make sense.
