I used to write poems a lot
Then for a while I did not
But I thought I might try again
And I have decided when

Each Friday will be the day
For writing my verse my way
No reason but often rhyme
And rhythm some of the time

But if it makes you feel sad
That poetry can be this bad
I should tell you that my verse
Is usually much much worse

  1. Hey, I know you really do have a busy work/life/wife working towards a honourable degree balance, so see how you go, but the actual poetical process IS fun.

So James is getting back on the ol’ road
Of sitting down and writing a weekly ode?
Well, welcome back to the Friday Write Club-
I advise scribing while imbibing down at the pub.

  2. Your poetry isn’t bad. Your readers are uneducated boobs. I’m glad you’re back. 🤣😎🙃

    1. I wish I had enough readers to make such sweeping statements. I hope in the future to have lots of uneducated boobs reading my appalling poetry.

  5. […] Friday – A poem that isn’t a haiku. But which will still probably be quite bad. This week I did a meta rhyme announcing this very thing. I called it The Friday Verse. […]
