Hello and welcome to the first episode of what I hope will be…

…erm…

…some…

…of my new podcast.

For the purposes of this blog, I’m calling it James Proclaims: The Podcast, to distinguish it from James Proclaims: The Blog.

Although, if you’re reading this, you are reading it on James Proclaims: The Blog.

Which is the original James Proclaims, in truth.

The OG James Proclaims, if you will.

The podcast is really just an extension of that world, but also, because it’s available on The Spotify and The YouTube, it’s its own thing as well.

Perhaps I should have called it James Podclaims.

That seems like a missed opportunity now I think about it.

In fact, to spare us all any confusion, that’s what I will call it on the blog.

But don’t be alarmed if you come across it on other platforms and it’s masquerading as James Proclaims.

That’s just how these things work.

Or at least how this thing works.

I’ve no idea how other things work.

To be clear, this — the thing you are reading now — is not the podcast.

It’s a blog post.

But it’s also the preamble to the podcast.

I know.

It’s all very confusing.

As of today, Episode 1 is available on The YouTube and The Spotify, although I have conveniently embedded both players on this page, so you don’t actually have to go anywhere else.

If you’ve read this far and you’re wondering what the voice of the man who has written these words sounds like, then press play on one of the links below.

As a special bonus feature, you can also see my face.

Because I made it as a video podcast.

Or vlog.

Or vodcast.

Or possibly vlogcast.

Or maybe all of the above.

I hope you enjoy it.

Although, in truth, enjoyment is possibly a little ambitious as a target.

You might want to set the bar a little lower.

  1. I watched on Youtube and liked it and have subscribed. If I could make a suggestion(about something I know very little about)? The sound levels weren’t consistent. I turned down my volume after the opening music but at different parts you lowered your voice and it was hard to hear and after the final goodbye, the music came on and was quite loud. Of course I’m old and my hearing isn’t what it used to be but that would be my only negative remark. Oh, and I recognized the mug right away.

    1. No you are correct. The sound is all over the place in that episode. I had the mic on the wrong setting, which I would have realised if I’d worn the headphones. Ironic given that I make such a big thing in the video about the fact I’m not wearing them… I think I fixed it for episode 2. Thanks for watching though. I didn’t really expect many takers for episode 1.

      1. It’s a good start. People listening to episode 100 will go looking for it just to see what your first one was like.

    1. Thanks. It’s more than a little rough round the edges, but pretty fun to make and episode 2 is already better (although objectively still far from perfect). If no-one subscribes, I like the sound of my own voice enough to guarantee one committed listener…
