Welcome back to another Throwback Thursday. I’m currently still throwing back to 2015, because it turns out I’m quite enjoying visiting my early blogging efforts.
This one definitely deserves another airing, as it does hold some significance for me.
I’d always been something of an infrequent but enthusiastic poet prior to starting my blogging journey, but it took me almost a full two months of ‘proclaiming’ on here, before I realised it was a valid form of blog post.
Given how hard I’ve leaned into the medium ever since (and how much harder I’m going to lean into it moving forwards), my debut James Proclaims poem seems more ironic than I intended it to be.
It’s been eleven years, but I think the real reason I wrote this is contained in the poem, and it was just me easing my way out of a minor case of writer’s block.
A throwaway moment, that directly led to over a decade of questionable poetry.
I don’t think there are many posts on this blog that are a better representation for who I am as a person…
This Is Not A Poem
I didn’t know what to write today
So I wrote this,
And tried to make it look like a poem
But it obviously isn’t a poem.
Although it may qualify as a poem,
In the eyes of some
It definitely isn’t a poem,
And the word poem is overused
In my defence, I’m not that bad,
In general,
At writing things like poems,
But this is not evidence of that.
