When the paperwork is mounting
And I'm buried underneath
Then it's time to pull my socks up
And it's time to grit my teeth

Although gritted teeth are useless
When it comes to crossing tees
And no i's were ever dotted
By the height of hosiery

And I can't just grin and bear it
I need to knuckle down
But I really cannot bear it
I think I'm going to drown

Although in truth there is no water
Even the paper is not real
It's an electronic mountain
And my shoulder's at the wheel

What wheel, I hear you cry?
A question that is fair
For the wheels have all come off
Even though they were never there

My metaphors are mixed
And they are not making sense
So it's time to get some work done
And get off this barbed wire fence

But I can't bite the bullet
It's a health and safety rule
And taking bulls by horns
Seems particularly cruel

So I'll put down my thesaurus
I've got too much to complete
It's time to get some work done
Or at least to press delete
