Despite having published two whole episodes of my new podcast to the interweb to the almost complete indifference of the rest of the world, I seem to have returned this week with a third episode.

While I might have expected little to no interest in my first two episodes, in fairness to me, I didn’t know for a fact that hardly anyone would watch and/or listen to them. By the time I made this one, I knew full well that this had become a vanity project that is as pointless as it is time-consuming to make.

But I made this episode anyway.

Because that’s the kind of thing I do.

One doesn’t produce 24 posts every December citing movies with tenuous links to Christmas if one is interested in popularity.

So it’s reasonable to expect that James Podclaims will continue, whether the world cares or not.

Having said that, there are some changes to Episode 3 which I think will really help to move the ‘brand’ forwards.

For example, I changed both the microphone and the camera to inferior versions of what I had been previously using.

Why?

Because it makes it easier for me.

It doesn’t improve either the viewing or listening experience for anyone who wants to support me, so it’s the very definition of selfishness.

Weirdly, though, the new set-up does appear to have helped me to relax. Which might possibly have improved the content.

In fact, it definitely has.

Episode 3 is much closer to what I wanted my podcast to be than the first two episodes were.

Which doesn’t mean anyone will enjoy it.

It’s still a self-indulgent 30+ minutes of me going on about nothing much at all. But it’s the kind of rambling nonsense I intended it to be, rather than the rambling nonsense of a man who is slightly out of his depth with a camera pointing at him.

So Episode 3 is both better and worse than what came before.

Also, I did pose a question in the Episode 2 preamble, which was:

“What’s the worst that could happen if you listen to this?”

And dumbestblogger chose to answer that question in my comments.

So I read out his answer on Episode 3.

So I’d like to pose a similar question here, on the off chance that someone else would like to have their comment read out on a podcast that no one listens to.

But I’m not very good at asking questions.

So I thought my question this week should be:

What question should I ask people to answer?

This is very clever, because if anyone answers this, I can read their answer out on a future episode and then pose that question back here for other people to answer.

Although if anyone does answer, it’s unlikely to feature in any of the next few episodes, because such is my commitment to this project that I’m spending much of this week batch-recording episodes for the next few weeks.

So it’s all fairly pointless.

But if you’d like to listen and/or watch, I would be genuinely grateful, although I won’t demonstrate that gratitude in any discernible way, so there’s really nothing in this for you.
