In November 2017, I decided, as I do most years, not to participate in National Novel Writing Month, which is an annual ‘event’ in which people try to write a novel in a month. The clue is in the name really. That month is always November, although I think the rules are relatively flexible and if you can knock out 50,000 words of a novel in 30 days then you can consider yourself a ‘winner’ of NaNoWriMo at any point in the year.
Anyway, instead of participating, I decided to write a series of posts mocking various novel genres. Perhaps I thought if I could demonstrate how cliché-ridden most novels are, I could persuade myself that they aren’t all that difficult to write. Although I still have written one since.
Whatever my rationale, I quite liked the results of my Not NaNoWriMo project so here they are in all their glory:
