The James Proclaims Advent Calendar Of Christmas(ish) Films.

In December 2017, I started writing my annual advent calendar of Christmas(ish) films. The idea was to pull together a definitive list of all of those movies that are set at Christmas time, but aren’t really Christmas movies in and of themselves. I’d noticed it was quite a popular trope for listicles on various websites, but that, while Die Hard was an ever-present, a lot of the lists contained slightly different movies. I assumed it would be easy enough to finds 24 movies out of the various ‘lists of ten’ that I found. And it was. But not all of the movies featured were actually all that Christmassy. For some lists, just having a Christmas scene or even a reference to Christmas might be enough to make the cut. And I reasoned that if that were the criteria I could probably keep the theme going for a couple of years. Maybe even three years.

How wrong I was.

At the time of writing I’ve managed to publish four advent calendars worth of Christmas(ish) movies and I’ve already put together enough movies to ensure that this feature will keep running for at least another two years. So The James Proclaims Advent Calendar Of Christmas(ish) Films looks likely to be a ‘thing’ on my blog for years to come.

In some ways it’s a shame that these are by far and away my least popular posts every year…
