It’s important to understand
If I complain about work
It’s not that I hate my job
And I’m really not one to shirk
Indeed I sometimes enjoy it
But I’m only there for the pay
If I didn’t have a mortgage
I’d find other ways to fill my day
Please don’t think I’m a slacker
Few people work harder than me
But I only turn up for the money
I just wouldn’t do it for free
I know some people who claim
They’d keep working regardless of wealth
But I wonder if that’s not a sign
Of questionable mental health
Because if were to have a windfall
Or find my fortune somehow
I’d pop in to work one last time
And pretentiously wish everyone ciao

I’d happily live a life of leisure

Very clever! I have a year and a half until I retire and I can hardly wait.

Amen, brother. You are preaching to the choir on this one. Yes, we’ve got to work to pay the bills, but there are so many interesting ways for fill the days if only the money was in the bank.
