C Is For Cookie

James Proclaims (4)

Day 3 of the A-Z challenge (cos we get Sundays off apparently) and in my experience the third letter of the alphabet is the letter ‘C’.  So my word of the day is ‘Cookie’.

I have chosen this word so that I can unashamedly highlight the fact that today is my birthday. ‘Birthday’ begins with a ‘B’ and we’ve already done ‘B’ but fortunately my lovely wife presented me with this awesome giant birthday cookie this morning.

Admittedly ‘cake’ also starts with a ‘C’ so a birthday cake would’ve been fine for the purposes of my A-Z challenge, but, and no disrespect to cake at all here, I do prefer a birthday cookie.

So far it’s been a pretty good day. I have had a delicious (and unhealthy) breakfast and opened more presents than anyone my age has any right to expect.

I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to spend the rest of the day.

When I was a child it was all about ‘jelly and ice-cream’ and ‘pass the parcel’.

As a teenager, things like ten-pin bowling, fast food and cinemas were the order of the day.

For most of my early and mid-twenties I was drunk. Regardless of whether it was my birthday or not…

From my late twenties onwards, I’ve been somewhat better behaved but my birthdays have been no less enjoyable for that. I expect I’ll have quite a nice time today but I’m unlikely to be doing anything that’s going to make for a compelling blog post.

I’m all about nice walks, museums and moderately-priced meals these days.

We’re all just going to have to pretend I’m doing something crazy and irresponsible instead.

Tune in tomorrow to see how I tackle the letter ‘D’

I promise it won’t be ‘Disappointing’! (See what I did there?)

    Happy birthday James!
But you missed an important question: is it a crunchy or a chewy cookie?

      Somewhere in between I’d say…

Happy birthday! Good old Millie’s Cookies (it looks like one, yes?) – you can’t beat them. I’m jealous of anyone who has a birthday during a school holiday, as I just miss out usually. Even if the post-birthday post ends up being DVD & DUVET DAY, it’s your party, so enjoy!

It is a Millie’s and my day so far is not far off DVD & Duvet. It is brilliant having a holiday birthday…

Alas yes but I still enjoyed the cookie. Indeed I still am enjoying it – despite my best efforts there is still quite a lot left…
